Late Fees 282—12.6(272) Late fees.

12.6(1) An additional fee of $25 per calendar month, not to exceed $150, shall be imposed if a
renewal application, a two-year exchange license, a Class A, B, C, D, or E license or a statement of
professional recognition (SPR) is submitted after the date of expiration of a practitioner’s license. Waiver of the late fee will be granted only upon a showing of extraordinary circumstances rendering imposition of the fee unreasonable.

12.6(2) Failure to hold an endorsement. An additional fee of $25 per calendar month, not to exceed
$150, shall be imposed if the practitioner holds a valid Iowa license, but does not hold a endorsement for the type of service for which the practitioner is employed.

12.6(3) Failure to hold valid Iowa license. An additional fee of $100 per calendar month, not to exceed $500, shall be imposed if the practitioner does not hold a valid Iowa license. The fee will begin to be assessed on the first day of the school year for which the practitioner is employed until the practitioner submits a completed application packet for the appropriate license. The penalty will enforce Iowa Code section 272.7. Waiver of the fee will be granted only upon a showing of extraordinary circumstances rendering imposition of the fee unreasonable.
A $25.00 per month, not to exceed $150.00 late fee, will be assessed to an individual who:

Continues to teach in a setting which requires an Iowa Board of Educational Examiners license while his/her full Initial, Standard, Master, Professional Service, Class A, Regional Exchange, Administrative, Statement of Professional Recognition, or Authorization has expired.

Continues to teach on an Administrative Decision or Class B license while his/her full Initial, Standard, Master, Class A or Exchange license has expired.

Practices in an assigned content or specialization area not listed on his/her full Iowa Board of Educational Examiners’ license, authorization, Class B or Administrative Decision license.
Late fees for not holding the proper endorsements will be waived for applicants for Class B and Administrative Decisions from the beginning of a school year until the due date for the Basic Educational Data Survey (October 28, 2011). All applications received after the October 28, 2011 due date, will be assessed late fees retroactive to the beginning of the school year, unless district administration submits a letter stating the hire date to be later than the beginning of the school year. The waiving of late fees does not apply to individuals practicing on expired licenses or authorizations.
A $100.00 per month, not to exceed $500.00, will be assessed to an individual who:

Practices as a teacher, administrator, or service provider in an Iowa School or AEA without holding an Iowa Board of Educational Examiners’ license or authorization.
Late fees for practicing as a teacher, administrator, or service provider in an Iowa School or AEA without holding an Iowa Board of Educational Examiners’ license or authorization will be waived through August 31, 2011. Any application for licensure received on or after September 1, 2011, from an individual employed since the beginning of the 2011-12 school year in a position at an Iowa School or AEA, will be require to pay the necessary late fees prior to the issuance of any license from the Board of Educational Examiners.
