Additional Information for Renewing a Coaching Authorization

All applications and renewal documents for the coaching authorization are now accepted only through our online system at: (Click here to renew a coaching authorization)  All documents are to be uploaded into this online system.

First, check your license type and expiration date at https://www.iowaonline.state.ia.us/boee/
If you do not see your coaching AUTHORIZATION here you will need to apply for one at http://www.boee.iowa.gov/coaching/first.html

There are no additional requirement for renewing an expired license.  The only difference between the expired coaching authorization and the current authorization is that a person cannot coach with the expired license.
Renewing a coaching authorization requires very little effort.  Coaches are not required to repeat the classes.

The 5 renewal activities need verified either with documentation such a certificate or printout from the IHSAA/IGHSAU verifying completion of rules meetings. See below for different examples.

The signature of a school administrator/AD is NOT NECESSARY.  Renewal activities are accepted via administrator/AD signature only if an acceptable clinic, workshop, or rules meeting was ATTENDED.  Administrator/AD signatures are only accepted when the signature is on school letterhead indicating the name of the event and date of the event.
** Signatures do not verify the concussion training or the mandatory reporter training, or CPR.
