Tammy S. Duehr

Tammy S. Duehr, appointed to the Board in 2006, is a first/second grade loop teacher at Eisenhower School in Dubuque. Born and raised in that city, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and in Early Childhood Education from Clarke College and a Master of Arts in Reading from Southern Connecticut State University. She taught one year in Houston, Texas and has been a teacher in Iowa for the past 14 years. She has served on numerous district educational committees and in leadership positions with both the local and state education associations. She has three published pieces to her credit, and she is active in community events. Her awards include Teacher of the Year, Table Mound School (1995); Gold Star Teaching Award (2001—also a Finalist in 2000); Teacher of the Year, Dubuque CSD (2001); State of Iowa Teacher of the Year Alternate (2002); and Milken National Education Award (2004).
