Julio Almanza


     Julio Almanza was the Superintendent of the Davenport Community School District since 2006-2011, when he retired. He received his BA from DePaul University and continued his education with Chicago State University, the University of Minnesota and Mankato State University. Julio is a long-time educator who spent seven years working for the Chicago Board of Education and Community Colleges. He moved to Minnesota in 1975 to work for the St. Paul School District starting as Bilingual Program Director and ending as the Asst. Superintendent for Planning and Support Services. In 1997 he worked as the Superintendent of the Duluth Public Schools retiring in 2005. After retiring, Julio worked one year as the Chief City Administrator for the City of Duluth. Julio has over 42 years in education and is known as an individual dedicated to education for all kids.
